Out In The Hills Whilst your expedition is underway it is important that you should: ¨ Make extensive use of map, route card and compass. Maps should be up to date and preferably laminated. ¨ Try hard to stick to the route card timings ¨ Take notes, photographs etc. for use in your report. ¨ Watch for changes in the weather and take action accordingly. ¨ Take care when negotiating difficult paths, crossing burns and walking on wet or unstable ground. ¨ Know where you will find your supervisor. ¨ Be aware of what should be done if an emergency situation arises. Emergency services should only be called when all other options have been exhausted. Remember that your supervisor should ALWAYS be your first point of contact unless there is real threat to life. |
