I love the "Great Outdoors" in most of its forms. Having been
through the Scout movement as a youngster, the outdoor life became the norm. I
have been a keen walker/backpacker, home & abroad, and a keen climber having
climbed around the country and even a few sport climbs in France, all to no great grade, but
high enough to scare me.
I have also enjoyed some great times sailing,
including trips to the channel Islands and beyond on a friends boat
called Sea Safari. This was an excellent old wooden tub with brass port holes
etc, that rolled like a pig!
Motorcycles have also been a love since starting out as a lad
on a beautifully restored Triumph Super Cub (rebuilt by my Dad), through such
machines as XS250 Yamaha up to a Kawasaki 1000RX and back to a more manageable
Kawasaki GPX750.
I Spent some enjoyable years in a MC club, and later after
leaving them, enjoyed many a bike rally, but speed was a passion and so became a
regular at "The Manx Grand prix" on the Isle of Man. (The amateur TT).
Unfortunately I have not been able to justify a motorcycle for the last few years, but I keep on dreaming. At least my driving licence is clear of
endorsements at the moment!

The one thing that has stayed constant through out my life,
(other than BEER) is my
love of Caving, and that is the main subject of my web site. Having
had the pleasure of being introduced to Caving on an adventure holiday,
whilst at primary school and later with the 4th Micklefield Scouts, who had
their own independent club "Micklefield Moles Caving Club" it turned
into the be all and end all for me. The main interest being in the
exploration of Caves, but got interested in the scientific side (Geomorphology,
Hydrology, Speleogenesis), and the history, I also became an avid collector of
litterateur on the same, my flat now resembling a library!

I also have a great interest in most things subterranean,
from chalk Wells and tunnels to mines and mining, with special interest in the
Stone mines around the Bath area.
I was a member of, the Cerberus Spelaeological society, in which I
was a committee member for eleven years, nine of which in the position of Chairman,
leaving the society recently, as I did not agree with the slovenly way I believe
it is now being run. I am a member of the British Cave Research Association
(BCRA), Subterranea Britannica and the South Wales Caving Club.
I have also been a member of the Micklefield Moles Caving
Club, Prestwood Exploration Group (PEG) & Yorkshire Subterranean Society (YSS), at various times and for various reasons.
Bad health has put a halt to my outdoor pursuits, hence the time
to put these pages together, and caving not being a spectator sport, have taken
up watching Rugby. With excellent timing the London Wasps moved to High Wycombe
in 2002, just when i was looking for something new, and boy have they had a good
couple of seasons in High Wycombe, culminating in winning the European cup. Long
may it continue.
