The most famous Romanian Speleologist who dominated underground exploration. He studied Biology in Paris and spent his spare time visiting Europe's Caves, and on his return founded the first Biological Institute in the World (1921), which gave Speleology a strong foothold in the country. Prior to forming the Institute, While in France He founded the review, "Biospeleologica" with Rene Jeannel, in which they published their famous "Enumeration of visited Caves". Also of interest was his "Travaux de L'institut de speologie" originally written in French.
