Part 1 Index

In Part 1 I look at the learning experience from the course as well the new concepts with which I now find myself familiar.

Computer Conferencing & Netiquette

In this section I cover the principles that I learnt which would prove vital for the rest of the course, primarily communicating effectively with others about issues raised by the course, something I often found particularly frustrating.

Group Working

Being familiar with working in structured hierachical groups I really thought that group working would be interesting, and anything but challenging. However the asynchronous, non-hierachical, remote nature of the groups for this course proved anything but easy to work with.

An Exercise from Module 2

I found concepts maps a particulary useful learning tool after doing this exercise. This concept map was perhaps a little too detailed and may have detracted from the key concepts, but I have learned from this.

An Exercise from Module 3

Although I classed myself a relatively experienced web surfer I had not actually looked at websites from a particularly analytical point of view, yet enjoyed looking closely at these 2 sites which I perhaps would not normally have visited.

Reflection on TMA04

I selected the issue of who if anyone deserved the title of "The Father of the Internet", and despite assessing intellectually that I should not identify any one individual, my conclusion proved otherwise, probably for none intellectual reasons. J.C.R. Licklider just seemed a nice guy.

Reflection On Learning Experience through the Course

Only once having completed this section have I actually realised just how much has been covered, and how much I have learned. Admittedly it has not been easy for various reasons. However, i now look forward to my next course, knowing that I will approach it in a better way with the benefit of the experience from this course.
