The Hangar
New alternative and variant ship designs
Welcome to The Zone Hangar. Please feel free to browse and download any of the ships below. Many of these have been created for use in a campaign game I am currently playing in. Should you have any comments or suggestions on any of the ships feel free to e-mail me:
Centauri Primus Bombardment Cruiser
A simple modification of the common Centauri Primus by which a Mass Driver is mounted onto the vessel's Forward hull at the compromise of the reduction in firing arcs of the front Twin-Array's. Although declared illegal by all sentient races rumours still circulate of a secret Centauri staging area where these ships are still being "modified" with mass drivers.
Centauri Shadow Primus Advanced Battlecruiser
While the Earth Alliance relied in IPX's discovery of a Shadow vessel to get a hold on this Ancient technology, the machinations of the Centaurum resulted in a Shadow base upon Centauri Prime. The contact between the Centauri and the Shadows would have guaranteed close access to their technology (and what self-respecting Centauri WOULDN'T make use of it!) While the standard Twin-Arrays were upgraded to Cutter Arrays, the Battle Lasers ended up being completely replaced by Light Molecular Slicer Beams. The grafting of Shadow Tentacles onto the superstructure added some much needed staying power to the vessel.
Narn Ratoth Fast Assault Frigate
With the rise of the Shadows, the Vorlons sought other races to promote their cause (which led to the development of the Minbari White Star). Another prime candidate race would have been the Narn had their Homeworld not fallen. A number of good reasons could have lead to probable Narn opposition to the Shadow-Centauri influence and thus the development of the Narn-Vorlon Hybrid Vessel. Based on a Thentus Frigate Hull, the Medium Lasers and Twin-Arrays were removed in favour of Molecular Pulsars (aquired from a third-party) and the burst beams stripped off in favour of Vorlon EM Shields. With the addition of a Heavy Laser as a primary weapon, the Ratoth becomes a formidable foe.
Given the popularity of the Ballistic Torpedo, it was only a matter of time before they transplanted them onto their Orbital Satellites. The powerful sensor rating of Centauri OSAT made it a perfect platform for the Ballistic Torpedo. (This variant has a points value based on the Weapon Modification playtest rules. The actual value should still be 250)
With the recent agressive Drakh incursions on EA territory (including a major assault on Earth), the Earth Alliance found they could not always rely on IA assistance. Most of the operational vessels were too slow to successfully defend and manoeuver against the more advanced Drakh ships. Flights of fighters although adequate were sustaining too many losses. The solution to this dilemma was the Harpy gunboat. Capable of manoevering in ways unlike any other EA ship and being able to sustain a lot more damage than a fighter it fills a large gap in EA ship specification. (Note there are two versions. The primary version includes the usual EA interceptors and energy web. It was speculated on later variants that given the number of weapon hardpoints available, they should really be occupied with more offensive weaponry, hence the inclusion of standard particle beams on the later missile variant)
