Thank you for your interest in the Metropolitan Mission and in particular the
Children's Home. The Metropolitan Mission is a small indigenous mission in South
India: Indian Christians reaching out to their own people for the Lord Jesus
Christ.
The principal work of the Metropolitan Mission is evangelism and church
planting, and it already has 70 congregations in needy slum areas of the city of
Vijayawada, and in many of the surrounding villages. Some of these village
communities consist of several thousand people. One particularly encouraging
aspect of the work is the outreach to Lambadi tribes people.
The Mission, inevitably, sees at first hand the poverty of the people. It does
what it can to help by running literacy classes and a small medical centre. It
also has a burden to help the many destitute children in the area. With this in
mind the Children's Home was founded in 1994.
