(1) Farm worker Samuel Murdoch was born in 1836 and died in Bolton in 1915. He married Isabella Maxwell in June 1862 at Colvend. Isabella's death certificate says she died aged 59 in 1898 at Barnbarroch Village, they are both buried with Samuels's parents at Colvend Parish Churchyard. They had 6 children. Robert Murdoch born 1863 and he was a farm servant at Lochhouse. Ebenezer Murdoch was born in 1865 and was a farm sevant at Upper Barnbarroch. James maxwell Murdoch 1868-1883. Thomas Murdoch born 1870. Maggie Helen Murdoch 1873-1922, she married Joseph Crank. Joseph Murdoch born 1876 and died at Aden, Eastern Telegraph.

Captain Ebenezer Murdoch and Helen Proctor other children are.

(2) Mary Jane Murdoch was born at Barnbarroch in 1838.

(3) Captain Thomas Murdoch was born in 1840; he died at sea on a voyage to River Plate on Breeze of Annan.

(4) Janet Johnson Murdoch was born 9/9/1846.

(5) Grace Murdoch was born in 1852 and died aged 26 at 180 High Street, Dalbeattie of TB, on the 1st of Dec 1878. She married settmaker Robert White at Colvend in 1873.

(6) Captain Joseph Murdoch was born in 1833 and died in England, date unknown, he married Helen Dunse in June 1859 at St George's, Hanover Square, London. She was born in Tranent, Lothian, Scotland on the 7th of November 1835. They emigrated to Australia.

Helen was on a voyage with her husband who was Captain of the ship called "Jerfalcon" from Bluff, New Zealand to Tasmania. They were struck by a wild storm and driven almost up to Lord Howe Island. During the storm a heavy piece of furniture fell on to Helen's head. She was vomiting for days and had to stay in bed, she died eight days later on the 3rd of October 1896 and was buried at sea the next day, and she was aged 60. The story can be found in a book called "Through the Rip." by W.P Evans.

Helen and Joseph had 4 children.

(1) Janet Robertson Murdoch was born in Liverpool, UK in 1860 and died at Williamstown, Victoria, Australia in 1943. She married Robert Williams Jones in 1884; Robert was born in 1859 at Williamstown, Victoria, Australia and died there in 1939.

(2) Joseph Ebenezer Murdoch was born in 1862, he married Elizabeth Gurney and she was born in 1864 at Williamstown, Victoria, Australia and she died at Newport, Australia in 1937.
They had 7 children.

(3) Helen Murdoch 1889-1892.

(4) Andrew Harley Murdoch 1891-1945, he married Alice May Davey in 1916.
