Monitoring of Extraction Sites

Sales Representatives regularly sample material to ensure that it meets the agreed specifications.

Category A Sites

Extraction of materials from these sites for our customers is fully controlled by our company as outlined in the Site Procedures and the responsibility of our Sales Representatives.

Arranging the delivery to a suitable test house, usually Churchill Laboratories to carry out our testing requirements for the product.

Supervision of labour involved with the extraction of materials and stockpiling on the site.

These sites allow free access to our personnel at all times.

Category B Sites

The site owners who maintain their own Quality System control extraction of materials from these sites for our customers.

Our company maintains a Site Plan covering the stockpiles.

Our representatives ensure that the product is fit for purpose by initiating a programme of testing similar to the one used for category A site.

Category C Sites

These sites have stockpiles that may have been dug without any quality control. Our representative ensures that the material is of suitable quality for use by our customers, following the sampling / testing procedure for a Category A Site.

Some Category C sites may include ones where the company provides a Quality Assurance service for products that it does not sell.

Material Specifications

We agree material specifications with our customers before supplying them.

Process Control

The Sales Representatives ensure the quality of the product by overseeing production of approved stocks to their delivery to our customers’ site.

The Sales Representative follows the following stages:-

1          In Situ

The representative will visit the site and assess the availability of material from the site.

2          Testing

The Sales Representatives send materials off to a test house, usually Churchill Laboratories for verification against specification. Evaluation of materials is carried out by the Sales Representative upon the receipt of the results from the Laboratory.

3            Customer

The prospective customer is shown the test results and if they are interested in purchasing the material, a stockpile may be built if necessary.

4            Stockpiles

These are built and sampled at the Sales Representatives discretion, where our company is responsible for stocking operations on the site.

Some sites already have stockpiles produced by the site operators for which our representative is responsible for assuring its quality before dispatch to our customers.

5          Trial Loads

Customers taking part in the initial evaluation will receive a trial load of such size to be considered as representative of the material supplied with respects to their own production processes.

Brick manufacturers tend to take trial loads of around 60 tonnes for clay materials and between 50 Kg to 100 Kg for sand and aggregate materials.

6            Customer

When the customer accepts the material then our company will if requested, produce a “Material Specification” in agreement with the respective customer, to which the material must comply, to be quality assured.

7            Customers Stockpiles at their sites

On customers own premises they are responsible for their stockpiles.

Our company is responsible for evaluation, extraction and initial stockpiling on our suppliers’ site and delivery to the customers’ site within our Quality System.

Our customers are encouraged to sample and test the material before use as a part of their Quality System.
