TM04 Lime Testing Geological lime testing simply involves spraying dilute hydrochloric acid over a bore hole sample, a clay face or in the case of a laboratory a representative ground sample. A slightly more appropriate method for the heavy clay industry is the lime index test which assesses only particles greater than one millimeter for there lime content. It has been found that lime particles in brick production that particles are less than one in diameter tend not to cause a problem. The actual amount of Calcium Carbonate / Calcium Oxide may be determined by analysis incorporation the X-ray Fluorescence technique. |
