58 Remembered Appeal Fund:
can you help?

On 18th June 2000 the bodies of 58 young men and women were found in a lorry on arrival at Dover. This tragedy was a wake-up call to the shocking conditions often endured by people who in desperation entrusted their lives to people traffickers.
Next year marks the fifth anniversary of the tragedy. Many feel that it is time to mark the occasion with a permanent memorial - not just to remember the lives of 58 young people so tragically cut short, but also for their loved ones many thousands of miles away.
For the past two years the Asylum Seekers Support Group has provided a memorial service as near as possible to where the bodies were found. Next year we hope to unveil a memorial plaque on the seafront to mark the fifth anniversary of the tragedy. We are inviting individuals, groups and faith communities to contribute to the cost of the plaque.
If you are able to help please send your donation to the address below. Please make cheques payable to 58 Remembered Appeal Fund.
