COMMUNITY SUPPORT
Constitution

  1. Name

    The organisation is constituted as an unincorporated association with the name Community Support.

  2. Aims and Objectives

    • To help build a strong community.

    • To provide resources for use by other community and voluntary groups.

    • To prioritise support for disadvantaged groups in the community.

    • To support community initiatives and good practice in community development.

    • To operate within appropriate catchment areas, prioritising Stockwell, North Lambeth, and surrounding areas.

    • To promote equal opportunities, in provision of services and in the employment of staff and volunteers.

    • To operate as a non-profit making body, with the charitable purpose of promoting community development.

    • To employ staff, make funding applications and manage premises, in the furtherance of the above aims and objectives.

  3. Membership

    Membership is open to all organisations and individuals who support our aims and objectives.

  4. Annual General Meeting

    The AGM shall elect a Management Committee with a maximum of 10 members. The Management Committee shall, at its first meeting, appoint a Chair, Secretary and Treasurer, and other officers as appropriate.

  5. Quorum

    The quorum for the AGM shall be 6 or one quarter of the current membership whichever is the less. The quorum for a Management Committee meeting shall be 3 or one quarter of the current membership.

  6. Amendments to this Constitution

    This constitution can only be amended at an AGM or a general meeting called for that purpose. Members must be notified 14 days in advance and supplied with copies of the proposed amendments.

  7. Audit

    The accounts shall be audited independently at the end of the year, and approved audited accounts submitted at the AGM.

  8. Dissolution

    The organisation can be dissolved at a General Meeting called for that purpose. Members must be notified 28 days in advance. There shall be no quorum for this meeting. All liabilities must be properly discharged, and assets disposed of to organisations within the community sector.

This constitution was adopted at the Inaugural General Meeting held in February 2000.
