SPAM warning
Please read "How spammers harvest email addresses". If you are uneasy about entering your private email address in a guestbook, then you could either leave that field blank, or obtain an encrypted email address to use in such web-forms by registering with Spam Motel. If you already suffer lots of SPAM in your email inbox, then I can recommend MailWasher as a solution.
SCAM warning
Internet fraud is rampant! Some recently deleted guest-book entries tried to solicit funds, using a heart-breaking sob-story. These were examples of a well-known financial scam, many of which originate in Nigeria and other countries in West Africa. If any further similar entries appear on this page in between routine inspections by the site owner, they should be completely ignored by all genuine and honest guests. Do not attempt to make contact with the originators!
Guestbook Abuse!

When training as a Methodist Local (Lay) Preacher in the 1980s, I was greatly helped by a retired Baptist minister who also admired Robert Murray M'Cheyne. I had forgotten all about this until, visiting Dundee over the weekend, I read the notice board of St Peter's Church. Thanks for the information you have collated about this important man. On another visit, I must visit the church!

Greetings, Your site is marvelous; you are doing a great job. Your work for the Lord is not in vain. Your site truly reflects its mission in essence. I am a student of theology and recently I stumbled into two sites, which offer a great wealth of Biblical studies. There is a site that offers a very large number of free correspondence courses at [http://www.ApologeticsCourses.Com] and there is another one that offers numerous free articles on Bible and Archeology. http:// http://www.BiblicalArcheology.Net This is a must see for every believer. Life is but a vapor, which quickly disappears. But a life hidden with Christ has "eternity" stamped on it. M'Cheyne's was a short earthly life, but of infinite value. No matter how few the years, the impressions of Christ he has left us are both endless and indelible: it was never about M'Cheyne; it was always Christ.

My father, a minister now deceased, and my mother, still living, gave me the middle name of "McCheyne" in 1951, the year of my birth. They told me that they were inspired by "M'Cheyne's complete and total dedication to the Lord." They had been reading Bonar's Memoirs together and decided I would be given his name. I have since inherited my father's library, which contains some very early books published on the life and memoirs of M'Cheyne. And this year is the first year in which I will dedicate myself to reading and learning much more about the man I was named after. Best regards.

There is a clear SPAM warning below this form. Email addresses entered by visitors are at their own risk. No-one is obliged to enter their real email address. All fields are optional. Removing a guestbook entry would not stop the SPAM. Once your address has been collected by the SPAMmers, that's it! It's a sad sad world that we live in. Reply to Ronald Wiley: I think the quotation is not one by M'Cheyne. My recollection is that his pony was still alive at the time of his death in 1843, but I might be wrong on this score. You may be right in regards to Brainerd. You'd need to check in Jonathan Edwards' biography.

I'm looking for a quote I recall which was attributed to Robert Murray M'Cheyne: "God gave me a horse and a message. I have killed the horse, and I can no longer deliver the message." If I have mis-attributed this to M'Cheyne, I would appreciate being informed of my error. It is possible that it is from David Brainerd instead.

My family and I have been reading the word using M'Cheyne's guide for several years. It has been an inspiration. Dear Brother, I last visited your site some 18 months ago. Previous to that I printed off R.M'Cheyne's Bible reading plan which both challenged and blessed me. I am currently following the plan (again!) using Don Carson's notes with increased comfort and blessing. Your website appears more attractive and informative, for which I thank you! 'Robert Murray M'Cheyne' by Andrew Bonar is one of my favourite books, to which I constantly refer. What pearls of wisdom I find therein! Thank you for your endeavours. Your site was so helpful to me (a backslider of many years until God's great rescue act in 1998)in the early months! I may well have mentioned it on an earlier Email! I shall leave it that. Thank you again. Yours in Christ Ron Norton

I have a letter written by my great, great grandfather, David McCheyne to his son Hugh who would have seem to have emigrated and had written to his father asking about the family. The letter is undated but I reckon it was written 1886/1887. I would be interested if there were any descendants of Hugh McCheyne and about his family. thank you

You all ought to know that any MUGU GUYMEN post is a sign that every email in this guestbook is now in the hands of Nigerian Bank Scammers. Expect some letters from Lome-Togo or Nigeria claiming there is a lot of money in a bank and they need a trustworthy partner in the States to transfer it to. This is apparently a big business in Nigeria. The KEEP OFFFF part is to warn OTHER scammers that THIS list is already 'owned' by them. Do a GOOGLE search on '419 Scam' or 'GUYMEN' if you don't believe me. Also see: www.scamorama.comRefer to the two warnings posted by the site owner. And please don't be deceived by any postings from these countries which use religious jargon. It's transparently obvious that these are bait for the same type of scam. The one below is just an example. He doesn't need anyone's photo, does he? Probably wants to steal someone's identity!

Thanks greatly for your website! I came across it via another Reformed website, and I have found your material most interesting. I have lived in Carnoustie (not far from Dundee), as well as Glasgow, a good few years ago now, and heard a lot about Robert Murray McCheyne then. I have also lived a number of years in Weaverham, Cheshire (not far from you), so your material and your background bring back good memories of saints, some living, and some now in heaven! Some Church of Scotland, some Brethren, some C of E, and some Baptist, beside many Independents! All have been a blessing to me. Thanks again for your valuable work! Revive thy work O Lord! I desire to begin reading Banner of Truth's bio. on M'Cheyne (done by Bonar I think), but do you have any other recommedations about where to start familarizing myself with this great saint? Please pray for our country. Our country is in a very weak state economically and socially. Many families are unable to earn sufficient money even for their basic needs. Children in particular suffer badly, because of lack of care in a society unable to address these basic social problems. Certainly we see, how this situation promotes the sermon the Gospel. Earlier closed establishments, such as prisons, hospitals, narcological clinics apply to christians with the request the help in spiritual and material questions.

I first learned of McCheyne in 1984 when my mother, who named me Robert Murray in 1951 because she did not like Robert Nathan (her Dad was Nathan Murray)read a Warren Wiersbe article, "Beaten Oil and McCheyne" and sent it to me. At the end of the article he recommended Memoirs and Remains of R.M. McCheyne by Bonar, which I read with great delight. McCheyne's phrase, "live so as to be missed", I've adopted for my own, but amended with my phrase, "and pray now!" Isn't "coincidence" marvelous in the providence of God?!! By the way, partly from McCheyne's influence, I've kept a prayer journal since 12/13/80 (got saved 8/17/80) and have recorded 129,454 specific answers. Thanks for maintaining this site. Grace and peace. Bob Sexton Mt. 6:33,34

Rather than point out the centuries old contradictions inherent in the Christian rant i'll resrict myself to a few words. Do you ever think of the concept of 'faith' self deluding? Can't you understand that there is no morality in Christian ideology when it is underpinned by the promise of heaven and the threat of hell?

I am interested genealogically, and admire your enthusiasm. However as a point of concern I think that perhaps you have details regarding RMM's siblings not quite right. I might be wrong but I believe that the details regarding William Oswald Hunter are incorrect. and are confused with the mention of "William" whom you say was trained in Medicine. It is only a small matter compared with all the other information you convey but I am sure investigation about this might convey even more conviction to your Home Page. Alfred

I thank God for the ministry of Robert Murray McCheyne. So much accomplished for God & His Kingdom in such a short lifetime. An inspiration to us lesser mortals. `To God be the Glory, great things He has done!`

There is an amazing amount of information available here which must represent a great deal of hard work and prayer. This site is much appreciated, dear brother, and I'm sure will prove to be a great source of blessing and encouragement to all who love the Lord Jesus and the truth as it is in Him.

You're doing a good job in preserving the messages of Rev. M'Cheyne. It's a lot of help for us who are new pastors.

It was interesting to run across your web page. I married Daniel Haslam in 1982. We named our first son, David. My husband's family came from Britian to Prince Edward Island and then eventually to the United States. We, too, are Evangelical Christians. Our background is Free Methodist. While many Methodist have become liberal over the years, our denomination has stayed conservative. We love the Lord and are grateful to be able to serve him.

praise the Lord:I thank the Lord for your web page concerning:the good wayof coming before the Lord. I'm sohappy and grateful to know that I'm saved: beingbaptized in JESUS' NAME, filled with the preciousgift of the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speak-ing in tongues as God gives utterance. This is theonly way we will make it to the kingdom of God butwe must also live a holy life before the Lord.Thank you, have a blessed day!!!
