SBT-4

The SBT series has never seen galaxy wide acceptance, manufactured on only the mid-rim world of Bera-Pour by it’s now extinct civilisation. The world has been little more than a tomb for over 1,000 years, to be periodically plundered by smugglers and tomb robbers. The SBT-4 defies standard classification of droids, though at a push might be considered First-degree. Their true purpose was to house the minds of the dead. The droid body being little more than a mausoleum for the digitally transcribed mind of a dead being.

SBT-4 is a tall elegant droid of humanoid proportions, its head is elongated and curved so that the rear slides down between the shoulder plates to the mid of the back. The skin was a reflective golden coating once, but us now dented and discoloured. The personality within prefers to keep a low profile within a deeply hooded dark robe to conceal its true nature from casual observers.

Though the personality within SBT-4 died almost 1400 years ago only to be regenerated in the body of a droid he has not been active all this time. After the fall of his civilisation though internal fighting and biological warfare SBT-4 wandered the ruins for some 200 years but ultimately powered himself down to await a more interesting times. As it happened his wait was rewarded when he was recovered by a group of tomb robbers who though he’d fetch a good price on the black market. SBT-4 immediately put one over on his new owner pretending to be little more than a droid with technical skills, all the while he learned about the new world he was on and the new time he’d entered.

After only a short period he grew weary of the pretence of being a simple droid and murdered his owner. He set himself up in business ministering to the technical needs of shady clients. Naturally his exceptional talents and his masterfully crafted blasters have gained a certain notoriety in the underworld and those who are prepared to pay his rates seek him out. These days he operates from a workshop in the Torma Port on Teta Ordas <View System>.

Using SBT-4 in Game
SBT-4 is likely to encounter the characters when they learn of his reputation as a weapon smith. Few however know his past or even that he is a droid. Still he knows much about Bera-Pour and characters who discover the truth about him may surmise that he might know where the best treasure hunting is to be done on that world.
