The Andrews family on our mothers
side (her maiden name was Bessie ANDREWS) originated in the Pitney & Martock
areas of Somerset, England. In this area there were several Andrews families who
we believe were linked but we are still looking for the family link between
them.
A number of Andrews's came from the Pitney area to find work in the South
Wales coal mines and the docks at Barry. Somewhere the missing link is hidden
there.
Our father, Thomas Andrews, was born in West Hartlepool,
Co. Durham, England and the family came to Barry, South Wales, UK in 1924 where
they settled and again spread out.
Our mother, Bessie Andrews, (yes Andrews was her maiden name and it does
cause confusion when researching!) although born in the Rhondda Valley, South
Wales is descended from Andrews in Pitney & Martock, Somerset.
In the Martock & Pitney area there were a number of Andrews families and
currently we have been unable to connect them to ours but we are till looking
for that vital link. There are too many similarities for
them not to be related so as in all research we keep pressing on....
