Welcome to the Home Page of the Tunstall Change Ringing Society.
Formed on 17th November, 1899, the Tunstall Society is responsible for maintaining ringing at St John the Baptist, Tunstall, Kent. 1999 is therefore the Centenary Year, seeing the launch of the Society's first Web Site.
THE LOCAL BAND ACHIEVE A PEAL ON THE EXACT CENTENARY OF THE FORMATION OF THE SOCIETY. On Saturday, 20th November, 1999, 64 members and guest of the Society dined to celebrate the centenary of the foundation of the Society. The gathering heard with great interest the memories of John Spice, whose family have ensured that ringing continued at Tunstall for the first 60 years of this century. This was followed by a speech by the present tower captain, Stuart Cox, who paid tribute to Terry Barton, who was responsible for maintaining the activity of the Society for the following 30 years. The day after, the parish gathered in the church to give thanks to God for the Society's centenary and flourishing health. On this occasion, the congregation heard the memories fo Rev'd Stanley Evans, KCACR Vice President, who himself had many connections with the parish and the ringers. See Centenary Events for pictures from the dinner and further reports on the weekend. |
