Wasted

Everything wasted:
The hours that you gave
To the child now choosing
To serve bitter gods.
Everything wasted:
A decade has passed,
No flicker of light,
Everything wasted, everything lost!

Everything wasted:
The love that has flown
From a marriage that flamed
But now has grown cold.
Everything wasted:
Hope brooding dimly,
Ideals abandoned,
Everything wasted, everything lost!

Everything wasted:
Your stature is bowed
Under burdens imposed
By strictures of life.
Everything wasted:
The dreams once harboured
Have slid beyond grasp;
Everything wasted, everything lost!

What sullies and sticks:
Sin so regretted;
All the mess that you're in.
What life has thrown at you ... ... ...
... ... ... Nothing is wasted
God's so much bigger -
Yes, all of the dross
Makes fertile ground when left at the cross.

His life wasn't wasted:
As he hung on the tree,
Love transforms darkness,
Hell's mouth is closed.
No love need be wasted;
No hope need be dashed,
No cost seem to great.
Nothing is wasted, no nothing at all.
