ST AUBIN - EMSWORTH TWINNING ASSOCIATION
|
|
St. Aubin is located on Juno beach, one of the D-Day landing beaches
between Bayeux and Ouistreham (the ferry port of Caen). It is a popular resort, which in summer welcomes many visitors attracted by the sandy beach, restaurants, hotels, campsites and other facilities of the area.
The twinning relationship between the two communities was established in
1986 and has flourished since. The aim of the Association is to promote friendship and links between individuals, families, schools, groups and clubs. One objective is to encourage and support young people as members of the Association to make friends with young St. Aubinais.
A number of factors have contributed to the continuing success of the
twinning relationship between Emsworth and St. Aubin:
- both are conveniently located 15 minutes from ferry ports
- inexpensive fares for foot passengers (particularly at group rate)
- friendly and very hospitable hosts and other residents of St. Aubin
- effective committee with support of Association membership.

Emsworth is twinned with St. Aubin-sur-Mer, an attractive small seaside town on the Côte de
Nacre in the Calvados 'département' of Normandy. Both communities have developed from old fishing villages, particularly renowned for their seafood. |
