Memoirs - Visit to St Aubin, May 2002
ST AUBIN - EMSWORTH TWINNING ASSOCIATION
Our French friends took us to the
Normandy Museum followed by lunch
and a visit around the very impressive
Mémorial peace museum (left). Visit
the excellent museum website.
All hosts and guests met up on the
Saturday for an evening meal.
French hospitality was again to the
fore with much eating
We exchanged gifts during the visit,
and the book to commemorate the
DDay Landings that we were given,
along with the video of 'Mon St Aubin'
which was made to commemorate
the 150th Anniversary, will be
available to loan to members.
Sunday was a free day, although many
hosts were involved in the elections.
Those who were able to visit the Mairie
during the evening were fascinated by the
openness and relaxed atmosphere of the
count. Interestingly enough, the results in
St Aubin were a fair representation of the
final outcome nationally!
Thank you to everyone who participated in the visit and made it so enjoyable.
Guy Morin excelled himself in searching
out suitable hosts for everyone and we
were pleased to welcome new
members on both sides of the channel.
All those who joined the 45 travellers to St Aubin in early May for the exchange visit will agree
that it was an excellent weekend. After the blustery weather in the preceding week, we were
relieved to get a calm crossing!
and drinking!
