Dear Friends,
This letter comes to you with the latest Newsletter from the eurythmists. As a supporter of the eurythmy activities you may feel privilged, as I do, that such an active eurythmy centre is locally based. Along with the eurythmists and co-workers, we as directors of WMEA are most grateful to Aonghus Gordon and his colleagues at The Glasshouse Project for their continued support and hospitality. What more can we do to foster and make possible the continued presence of eurythmy in Stourbridge?

(1) My first task is to update the Friends mailing list. The continued support of a “warmth” organism is most important! Do you wish to remain on the list? Are there others whom you would like to include?

(2) Students bursary fund. Our students work part-time to pay their way. As the eurythmy work demands more time in the week, students often require help to make ends meet. The existing bursary fund needs replenishing.

(3) I am endeavouring to secure sources for funding both for the stage group and the teaching. Tax-payers can help substantially to make it possible for the eurythmy centre in Stourbridge to continue by taking out a covenant. Covenant forms are available.

It is worth remembering that the tickets we buy at the opera are subsidized by as much as 2/3. It is similar with orchestras and theatre companies. Subsidies are simply essential. We the audience could never cover the costs involved in the performing arts. Perhaps we often take it for granted the fact that eurythmy requires enormous dedication in time and sacrifice from the performers. Maren and her colleagues are renewing efforts to establish a full eurythmy training. Getting eurythmy known is part of that endeavour.

Incidentally, we are looking into a kind offer to make a short promotion video. This 15-minute survey will probably include short interviews, snippets from eurythmy lessons, demonstrations and performances designed to give potential students and impressarios an impression of eurythmy.

We are most grateful for all the help and support that you have unstintingly given. The times may be critical, but I hope that this appeal will not go unheeded. When, for example, you see the faces of the young children and hear their responses you would not doubt the power of eurythmy to bring healing and spread beauty in these difficult times.

With warm greetings,

Clare Killin

for all the Directors of WMEA
