JAMES ROWLAND WALKEY.
There are three references to James Rowland Walkey which have been copied below.  They are; Alumni Cantabrigiensis, Who's Who 1939 and Crockford's Clerical Directory 1953 54.  They are copied individually.  Finally, there is a consolidated list.
The following extract was taken from Alumni Cantabrigiensis.  It was copied by Eardley Bryan on 2nd May 1991 and was taken directly from photocopies made in the library of the Society of Genealogists in London.

Note.  The date for his leaving Moreton is as copied from the entry.  It should read Oct. 1959. He died in Jan. 1960.

Army sprint champion, 1906.  Considered by many qualified judges to be the fastest man in England at that time.  He was prevented from running in the Olympic Games by an injury to his knee and "pressure of  work".  His obituary in The Times stated "the Rev J.R. Walkey played rugby for his college and for Blackheath, and was a good oarsman.  He was the first man to set a time within 10 secs. for the 100 yards  sprint, and was at one time the champion of Kent and Sussex.
