Problems viewing .pdf files?
If you can't view the files on
these pages, you probably need to install "Acrobat Reader" (a free
program from the internet). Download it to your hard disk (5.2-6.4MB),
install it onto your computer and then try again.
Why choose acrobat to store
information?
Acrobat is a program that allows
you to see files whose last four characters are .pdf ( portable document
format). This format is particularly useful, because any document will
not only appear exactly as intended on screen, but will print exactly as it
appears. This is hardly ever the case if you print directly from your
browser. It means that we can distribute regional documentation in a standard
form that everyone can read and print. You'll find acrobat files all
over the internet (for instance the DoH web site uses them extensively), so
it's a useful program to have anyway.
If you're wondering why Acrobat
Reader is free, it's because if you want to create .pdf files, you have
to buy the software from them.
When you follow the link below to
Adobe's web site, you'll be asked a couple of questions. The first one is what
operating system you're using. It also asks you whether you want the
searchable version (larger file). I'd recommend that you take this.
After you've waited an age for it
to be copied to your hard disk, make a note of where you downloaded it to i.e.
the directory location. Then go to Windows Explorer / File Manager
and double-click on it. This will run the installation program.
When it asks you any questions (such as where to install it etc.), just accept
the defaults. After it has completed, close down, then re-start Internet
Explorer / Netscape and you'll be able to view all the pages there.
