1998 - Defence Evaluation and Research Agency radio waves research, paid for by government, suggest that mobile phone signals disrupt part of the brain which controls memory and learning.
A DERA spokesman said "The radio waves tested are those that are used by mobile phones, and it is quite exciting because obviously there is an effect, but we do not know whether it is long term or short term. More
research is needed."
Use of mobile phones in aircraft or hospitals is restricted due to adverse effects on sensitive electronic equipment. The little understood human brain is a much more complex device with millions of minute electrical signals,
and it isn’t shielded within a metal box! A link between current brain tumour cases and prolonged mobile phone usage may been proved, but it could be decades before we can hope to understand the possible damage that
continuous brain wave disruption from low-level base station radiation can cause.
