Letter to The Ripon and Leeds Diocesan Registry, querying the claim, in Vodafone’s planning appeal statement, that Faculty permission had already been secured. Date: 21-02-02 Dear Mrs. Harding We would also like confirmation that Vodafone must obtain Faculty permission in the manner explained by you, (giving us a right of appeal). A written description of the procedure would be useful. We are concerned that if Vodafone think they already have Faculty permission, they may go ahead with the installation immediately. Yours,
Reply from Mrs. N.Harding of the Ripon and Leeds Diocesan Registry office. Our Ref: NJH/KMB Re: Holy Trinity, Knaresborough I write to acknowledge receipt of your letter of 21st February 2002. I can confirm that Faculty permission has not yet been secured. The Chancellor has not granted a Faculty. I can only presume that reference to Faculty permission relates to the obtaining of a certificate from the DAC (Diocesan Advisory Committee). Before any matter can be referred to the Chancellor, he has to take advice from this Committee, which is made up of experts in the matter, i.e. Town planners, architects, surveyors, etc. I can confirm that the matter was decided by the committee as long ago as 1999. In addition to the Faculty being granted by the Diocesan Chancellor, the parish and Vodaphone will have to agree the terms of the licence. I can confirm that I have correspondence from the solicitors, but nothing is yet completed. With regard to your final paragraph, I can confirm that Vodaphone do not think that they already have Faculty permission and may go ahead with the installation immediately. Yours sincerely Nicola Harding |
