instead of being positioned behind the louvres, the antennae are now to be notched in 70mm from the front edge, and so most of their 2.5m length will be visible. The face width of the antennae is 260mm; this is a large proportion of the 410mm louvre width (between the mullion and the side). Even with painting the changing shadow effects as the sun moves round cannot be reproduced, and the antennae will be easily visible from many places. Spot the antenna !
This plan shows the louvres brown, the surrounding stonework light-beige and the antenna as mid-grey. The planning appeal decision granted still describes the antenna as “behind new GRP louvres” and “within the tower”. Outside and in front seems more truthful. The width of the antenna shown in the picture above is based on information from this plan. The plan seems to show an incorrect profile for the stonework at the top of the arch (the side stonework profile appears to be shown).
We have no confidence in Vodafone’s ability to stick to the plans, given the changes to their plans which they have already made, and their inability even to make their plans show either the correct number of louvres or any antenna tilt angle (to produce antenna beams facing down at the normal angle), on their plans.
The louvres have to be retained for possible reinstatement. How can they be removed without being damaged, it is important that no work is done unless this can be guarenteed. |
