FADER are delighted to learn of the refusal of planning permission for the Vodafone installation in Holy Trinity Spire.Helen Prudames, spokesperson for FADER, said “This is great news for the local community who were very concerned about the potential health risks. We understand it was refused, quite rightly, on conservation grounds. In one respect we find ourselves disappointed not to be able to fight the health issues through the Church Court procedure which could have set a valuable precedent on a nationwide scale. We would like to take this opportunity to thank the hundreds of people who supported us throughout the campaign.” FADER are continuing to support other anti-mast campaigns locally and countrywide, in order to stop similar situations occurring elsewhere.
NOTICE OF DECISION ref. DCREFULZ 00/04270/FUL Date of decision: 30.04.2001 The reasons for the decision: The proposal due to the position of the proposed antennae and the subsequent reduction in the depth of the replacement louvres would unacceptably detract from the symmetry of the arched openings to the bell chamber of this Grade II Listed Building which is located within the Knaresborough Conservation Area..._The proposal is therefore contrary to Policy E4 of the North Yorkshire County Structure Plan and Policies A I, CFIO, HDI and HD3 of the Harrogate District Local Plan.
As refusal was on the grounds of part of their submitted application it appears there may be no right of appeal or that an appeal would be unlikely to succeed. Keeping the existing louvre shape means that 120° beam width can not be achieved and so a re-application from Vodafone is unlikely. FADERs objection to Vodafone’s louvre plans, brought about this refusal, initially all official bodies supported the proposals and the planning application simply needed ‘rubber stamping’ to go through. |
