..::: (17.06.05 13:44)> Helicop...oops Paddling trip in Italy !!Well most of you will have heard the epic adventure of our Captain Jon Wright and 3 fellows paddlers during last month trip to Italy which was going to be a serious WhiteWater trip but I want to make sure nobody forget it before the trophy ceremony (I can't believe you're trying to steal my Nutter Of the Year Trophy!!!). A serious trip, it has been despite having paddled only one river (or half of it??) and having to call the rescue to get out of what turned out to be a VERY serious river with the help of an helicopter! Anyway, Jon promised me a little write up and photos for the website which I am still waiting for... so I thought I would remind him :) Anyway t he summer finally arrived and most paddlers are looking accross the channel to find some proper paddling as did a few of the club 2 weeks ago in Slovenia - loads of photos and write up to be online very soon. Summer also means bbq!! So don't forget to book your ticket through Catherine Heather for what is looking like an evening to remember. Price is £5 for U18 & £10 for adults (Same as last year). Date is the 23rd July and location the Allards Field, Shurdington Road (same as last year). Is included all food, drinks, music, entertainment, overnight camping, parking & a few surprises! See you there!

..::: (17.05.05 17:07)> Climbing up Snowdon and Tryfan! After the last North Wales paddling weekend where we end up climbing Tryfan due to the lack of water, Jim Fry decided to organise a mountaineering weekend to keep us all busy. Thanks to the great weather and Jim knowledge of the area, we all had a fantastic time walking / climbing the two classics Snowdon and Tryfan. Everybody made it to the top both days - Jim, Paul "Purple Ronnie" Ellis and Fabien opting for the climbing way while the rest of the team decided to take the more "sensible walking" way (Catherine might contest my idea of sensible...). Being much easier to take photos while walking than kayaking, you will find loads of shots here - courtesy of Oli, Jim & Fabien. The weekend has definitely been full of events and emotions and I would recommended everybody not to miss the future write up in the next newsletter to hear about Paul new nickname and Catherine's breakdown half way down Snowdon...

..::: (8.05.05 11:27)> Woolacombe WeekendThis year Woolacombe weekend brought us a great combination of hot weather and fantastic surf. Once again it proved to be a successfull and very popular trip, thanks to Steve for the organisation and fighting for our camping spot! You'll see on your left that social secretary Catherine is taking her new responsabilities very seriously and has been "actively" surfing all weekend while Paul finally discovered the joy of paddling a boat smaller than 4 meters ;) This actually make him decided to bring paddlesport to the Lido on may the 19th - so don't hesitate to email if you want to try any particular boat. You can see more shots of the weekend here. Quality is not that great... but the surf was too good to take time to work out this camera! I'll do better for the next trip... The summer is coming and bringing plenty of new commers to the Lido, new captain Jon Wright and his team are making sure everything goes smoothly and hopefully we will see lots of those new faces joining us on trips pretty soon! |
