SQUARE AND SHUEISHA FORM NEW SUBSIDIARY

Not so long ago Square announced that is will form a new subsidiary with Shueisha, one of Japanese's largest publishers. Thus meaning that is will allow Shueisha's Weekly Jump magazine to be distributed as part of Square's PlayOnline digital content. The subsidiary wont be formed until spring 2001, although its name and executive members have not been decided yet. Though its not certain but Shueisha will be providing around 70% of the initial capital funds while Square will provide the remaining 30%.

This is not the first time Square have let out information about offering the ability to read Manga (Japanese Comics) through PlayOnline. With the idea of Weekly Jump, a popular magazine in Japan which previously featured manga titles such as Dragonball, Fist Of The North Star and Rurouni Kenshin, the company have certainly brought itself closer to that step. They plan to launch its PlayOnline service someone in 2001.
