BOSENCE in Exeter, Devon, U.K. at 11:25:45 Saturday April 26 2003
The Bosence family originate from Cornwall, many from Sancreed, Madron, and
Paul, although prior to 1066 they may well have come from France. All Bosence's
are related, my aim to have all Bosence's and name variants (and there are many)
Bossence and Boscence to name but two, in one family tree. There are three
pronunciations for the name in use today, in England Bosence has the emphasis on
the second syllable, in Australia the "o" is pronounced as in "bolt" by Bossence
and as in "both" by Boscence. The name Bosence among the Cornish is said to mean
"secluded dwelling". If you can assist me with my dream please feel free to
contact me, no matter how small the information is, it all helps. Thank you to
all who have helped with contributions of family information in the past.

Further to my message of April 9/03, I have been able to trace my line of the

sister, Sophia (chr. 1862, Germoe). His parents were Thomas Stephens (chr 1831),
copper miner and farmer of Germoe/Breage and Eliza Williams. He also had
siblings Mary Williams Stephens, Elizabeth Jane Stephens and Thomas James

I am looking for information on my Quaker WILLIAMS ancestors from Falmouth and
Perranarworthal. Michael Williams married Anne ARTHUR in Bodmin in about 1800.
Michael was a manager of the Cornish Bank. Their son John Williams 1815-1883 was
a manager of the Perran foundry, a manager of the Cornish Bank and a timber
agent. He married Eliza LEACH and Elizabeth Emily KRABBE. John and Eliza
Williams had two sons, John Michael 1845-1879, the first engineer on an ocean
liner, who married Cyllene WILSON and Edwin, a school master, who married Ellen
PHILLIPS. John Williams' sister Louisa married Captain Thomas HOSKING, a ship
owner. For many years the Williams family lived at Bellevue, 31 Trevethan Road
in Falmouth. Does any of this sound familiar?
