TREES TOWARDS WINTER
I sometimes think that trees have secrets they would like to share with
us.
The same trees seen in sepia photographs of cities changed beyond all
knowing save for the quiver of those leaves that fall and fall and grow
again whispering when the walls around them crumble:
Don't undervalue being human! How we wish........... But what
they wish only leaves a poignant pattern of ecstatic longing in the
tracery of twigs and branches as they bare themselves and bow towards
approaching winter.
