Etenal Life

Stock markets and ice caps are in meltdown

and suicides are testing their worth

but in the parks there are still lovers

on benches moored safely to Mother Earth.

War, plague and famine are all raging

and distant screams demand to be heard

but in the park a boy has his arm around

a girl and it’s warding off the world.

She smiles and rests her head on his shoulder

As they share each other’s very breath

and their publicly private laughter

Is way beyond the reach of mere death.
