Personal Details & Interests

My name is Peter Dodd.  I am retired and live with my wife, Erica, in the small village of East Preston, which is located on the south coast, about 10km west of Worthing.

My main interest amateur radio and I hold the amateur radio call-sign G3LDO. I have been in Amateur Radio for 45 years and, at various times, had the call signs VQ4HX in Kenya, VQ3HX in what was then Tanganyika, VQ1HX in Zanzibar, 9L1HX Sierra Leone, PA9APV  ZK1XE Raratonga and CN2PD Morocco.

Before I retired I was the Technical Editor for Radcom, the Radio Society of Great Britain's monthly magazine. Now I spend much of my time writing books and articles on Amateur Radio or experimenting with antennas. The picture on the right is me in the corner of an unusually tidy radio room - cum- office, located in an upstairs room of the house.

The main station radio equipment comprises a TS-850s and a KW1000 linear. Most HF operation is confined to the five upper HF frequency bands. The antenna is a home made multi-band antenna constructed from MQ-2 coils and material.

I have an interest in the 136kHz  band and the LF station can be seen on myLFstn

My Family and Other Animals.

Erica's main interest is an Anglo-Arab chestnut mare called Kitty. She has been with us for about nine years and keeps us fully occupied and a pay-cheque away from destitution. This part of West Sussex is an excellent location for horse riding, with the beach to the south and the downs and woodland of the Arundel estate to the north.
