BACKGROUND

 

·        The department is part of the Humanities Faculty.

·        There are two full time geography teachers, Mr. C. Elvidge ( Head of Department ) and Mr. P. Gibson.

·        At Key Stage 3 ( Years 7, 8 and 9 ) all students have one geography lesson per week ( One hour & ten minutes ).

·        Geography is an optional subject at GCSE.

·        There are two GCSE geography classes.  Each class has two lessons per week.

·        We follow the AQA ( Formerly NEAB ) GCSE syllabus C.

·        Geography is an optional subject at AS and A2 level.

·        There are two AS/A2 geography groups.

·        We follow the AQA AS/A2 syllabus B.

·        Each AS/A2 class has 4 lessons per week.  Beverley Grammar School operate a joint sixth form with Beverley High School and the teaching is shared.  Each geography student has two lessons per week at the Grammar school site and two at the High school site.

·        Geography lessons are taught in two specialist teaching rooms ( HU3 and HU4 , in the main school block ).

·        The geography office is on the first floor of the main school block next to the Careers room and Pastoral room.
