Gilwern village is situated in the Brecon Beacons National Park. The School nestles among fields at the bottom of the valley and is surrounded by hills typically found in the Abergavenny area.

Catchment
Most of our pupils come from the immediate surroundings in and around Gilwern. Pupils attending from more outlying areas travel by school bus and ‘out of catchment ‘ pupils are usually brought to school by parents.
The school accommodates pupils in the 4 - 11 age range and in the main, pupils come to us from Hopscotch Nursery and other local nursery schools.
Other Schools
There are separate Infant and Junior Departments and at the end of their Primary education, pupils transfer to either King Henry VIII Comprehensive, Crickhowell High School, or Brynmawr Comprehensive.
We maintain close links with these schools to ensure smooth transition for each child.
