Perry’s Shoelace Knotting - Part 2

If you've come this far and you are desperate for a knot that stays done up - you're in the right place. This is (as far as I'm concerned and until I find something superior) the ultimate in shoelace security.

The Ultra Freedom Knot

You'll see from the photos that the starting point is the general freedom knot (as shown back there in step 7) so, if you don't know how to do that, go back and learn it before adding the final modifications described here.

So, having created the Freedom Knot, there is just one more step to add. All this consists of is arranging the free ends correctly before tucking them through the opposite loops. When this is done the knot can be tightened, with the ends then secured by two loops rather than one. If tied correctly it will pull apart just like a standard knot.

Admittedly the extra threading is a bit more cumbersome than the basic Freedom Knot, but a price worth paying if this was still not staying done up.

This knot has the further advantage of tightening up into a tidier appearance than the standard Freedom Knot, as shown in step 7.
