Under construction

Having first played Williams Arcade Classics a few years ago, and then MAME, I had (like a lot of you it seems) the idea of interfacing a PC with an arcade cabinet. I knew that the controls would somehow have to be attached to the keyboard and that I'd need plenty of buttons to use as windows controls. Having first seen Tim Eckel`s Pacman cabinet at www.arcadeathome.com and then others, I gained the inspiration to carry out this project. If you are new to the emulation scene then go the links pages to take you to relevant sites.

I drew up a list of things I wanted from the project. Firstly I wanted the cabinet to be completely integrated so that if I moved it somewhere I didn't have to strip it apart for fear of something dislodging or breaking. Secondly I wanted only one cable going in to it i.e. power, I don't like seeing wires everywhere, keep it neat and sweet :)

Since I upgrade my computer every 6 months or so (seems like every 6 weeks!), I had plenty of spares.

The computer at this moment will play MAME, NeoRAGE, Callas, Raine and other emulators. I use Brian Lewis's ArcadeOS, a great DOS based front-end for the majority of the emulators. Also I have various Windows games installed including the Tomb Raider series, Quake 2, and Quake 3 as well as Winamp so I can use it as an MP3 jukebox.
