So make a noise the Gorgie Boys

After the recent home game against Kilmamock, myself and a few of the boys from the supporters club got talking about the complete lack of atmosphere at the match.
We started to reminisce about the days when the Hearts fans would gather in the shed for a good sing-song. After a few pints we decided that Hearts should set aside a section of one of the new stands for fans who wish to be in the choir.
There's no doubt that the glamour games look after themselves where the noise at times sends shivers down the spine. Alas the smaller games are a real problem. The introduction of all-seated stadiums has created more sedate type of fan, maybe it was easier to vent your feelings when you were just a head in the crowd. We feel the problem stems from, in our case and I'm sure many others, that as season ticket holders we're scattered all over the Wheatfield stand.
How about the club setting aside a section of the Gorgie Road Stand next season for people to buy a season ticket, or pay at the gate and once again create the Gorgie choir. I read with interest in the Rangers news(afraid my laddie's a blue nose) one fan appealing for the same type of choir section after the lack of atmosphere in the recent O O draw with Hearts. Rangers liked the concept of the idea but felt it would be impossible to introduce as season ticket holders are unlikely to give up their seats to make a section available. This is one of the main reasons I feel Hearts should introduce this area before they start selling seats for the new stand. This has been tried and tested in England, Arsenal pioneered it without much success, but lets be honest their boring b....... anyway. Sheffield Wednesday now have a full band playing in one of their stands and seemingly create a terrific atmosphere. Incidentally they get free admission so obviously the club love the idea.
I'm sure many Hearts fans would buy season ticket for a choir section knowing that when they bought their seat they were sitting with like minded Jambos. This in turn would help the team and turn Tynecasite into a more intimidating place. I'm not suggesting that fans who go along to Tynie and do not raise their voices are any less of a supporter although it does become very frustrating when a chant of "stand up if you hate Hibees" flutters along to section E and you end up feeling as though you are surrounded by Hibees. I'm sure there are many like-minded Jambos out there who constantly say on Saturday night, the atmosphere was shit today. Yeah, well let us know your feelings, better still tell HEARTS.
