KING ROBBO - THE LEGEND

Everything, eventually, has to come to an end, but I am sure that it didn't stop every true Jambo getting a lump in their throats as it was officially announced that John Robertson, the KING OF HEARTS, finally left the club. I am sure that I speak for all Hearts fans in wishing him well at Livingston and wherever his career takes him beyond that. Hopefully one day we will see you back at Tynie in a coaching role and even maybe one day as manager. Thankfully and despite all the rumours he didn't end up with the first division side on the wrong side of town. Even if he had he would always, I am sure, have had a special place in all of our Hearts.

No matter what John does now he will be the hero of 2 or 3 generations of Hearts fans. Just as our fathers and grandfathers tell us their stories of Wullie Bauld, we, that is those of us who have been lucky enough to watch Robbo playing for Hearts, in ten, twenty and even thirty years will tell our children and grandchildren about our hero John Robertson.

I was actually fortunate enough to be in Robertson's bar after the Dunfermline game at the end of last season and got chatting to John. At the end of the night I wished him well and told him that he would always be my hero and was already a legend. His response was that legends are winners. Well John on May the 16th 1998 you picked up a winners medal in what proved to be your last outing in a Hearts jersey. Its a bit ironic really that after 18 years it came down to your last game before you got the cherished medal that you deserve so much.

Hopefully you will now consider yourself a LEGEND and surely the cheer, the loudest of all the cheers, that you got when you lifted the Scottish Cup with your hand on the badge must let you know how much you are appreciated by every single Jambo.

Good luck John you will always be welcome in and around Tynie and I think I speak for most Hearts fans when I say, that we hope to see you back at Tynecaslte sitting amongst us as a fan and also that you maintain your regular attendance at many of the Supporters clubs functions and player of the year dances in both the near and distant future. I know you will always be made welcome.

Thanks for being the King of Hearts and the Hammer of the Hibs, we will never forget you!
