Background
| Greenwich Dance Agency was founded in 1993 and in its relatively short history the Agency
has established itself as a key component of the dance infrastructure
in London. GDA is an independent organisation with limited liability
and charitable status. It is managed by a small group of Trustees
which includes representatives from both the local community and
professionals working within the arts and dance sector. GDA occupies the former Borough Hall, a substantial municipal building close to Greenwich town centre. The building consists of two large halls which serve both as dance spaces and venues for performances/events. In addition there are a number of smaller areas which are currently used as offices and service spaces. The Agency receives revenue funding from both the London Borough of Greenwich Leisure Services Committee and the London Arts Board. In addition, GDA has also received a number of smaller project grants from The Arts Council of England, The London Borough Grants Unit, Paul Hamlyn Foundation etc. Greenwich Dance Agency is concerned with the holistic development of dance. The Agency seeks to celebrate the social, recreational and educational functions that dance fulfils within our society. It delivers a range of services for both professional dancers and the wider public to experience and participate in dance. Three guiding principles underpin all aspects of the organisation's
