while this request is not for Yarmouth per say, there may be someone around the area who will remember the people I am searching info on. Name was Ben Stuart, a GI stationed at Sculthorpe in 1957 with a 4 yr old daughter who was taken care of by a Fakenham family at that time for him. Ben and the guy who's wife looked after the little girl used to come to Yarmouth every weekend and go fishing at Lowestoft, Used to get a drink at the Blue House and the Dukes Head. Would like any info either about Ben Stuart, who would probably be about 70 yrs old now, or his daughter or the family who babysat her in 1957. Any news at all would be appreciated. Get out your thinking caps . Ben was a quiet soft spoken man who loved his little girl very much and apparently had custody of her. If you know anyone in Fakenham please ask them if they know of anyone matching that description. Also, anyone remember a guy by the last name of Purcell from that era?? thanks.

Hi, Looking for anyone who may remember an Edna Ames. We believe we have the right Edna, if we don't, please forgive me. Edna had a daughter around 1956-1957, but she didn't keep the baby. She had the baby by an U.S.A.F man and I'm looking for that child. If you are related to the Ames family or remember Edna pregnant, please let me know whatever little bit of information you have. Edna has already passed on, and I fear time is running out for me to find her first child. If you know of another Edna that this situation happened to, please let me know. Thank you for your help, Jennifer

Would love to correspond with any Snellers in the area. My cousins and I are putting together a book about our Sneller/Chubbock relatives in Caister in the 1800s and what life was like in Caister then. We're from the line of Master Mariner John Thomas Sneller. Our great-grandparents William O. Sneller and Rebecca Chubbock and our grandfather William John Sneller came to the U.S. in 1906. They lived at #2 Garfield Villa. A great-aunt also married into the Shalders family and lived in the Kings Arms. Hope to get to Caister some day, but would like connections in the meantime. Thanks.

Hi! I am probably being a bit naughty adding my request to this website! However, it is about the people of Great Yarmouth!
I am currently preparing a website on the history of 'The Windmill Theatre', Great Yarmouth! Until it closed in 1985 it was the venue for farces and concerts etc. The likes of the brilliant Sid James, appeared there in farces such as 'Wedding Fever' and 'The Mating Season'!
But did you ever go to a show there? Did you ever appear in a show there? Did you ever work there? What are your memories? I would love to hear from you!
If you'd like to contribute to this new website and thus help me to pay tribute to the history of this brilliant venue, which I love, then please email me!
