Osmosis are a top Northamptonshire band, and their latest production, 'Luv Buzz', features eight indie/rock tracks which show what they are all about.

The first thing to hit you as you press the Play button on the 'Luv Buzz' recording is the heavy rotating guitar sound, reminiscent of todays top guitar bands such as the Charlatans, the Stone Roses and (to a lesser extent) Placebo. 'Like You' is an Angst-driven song that trots along nicely and opens the album well.
'Luv Buzz' is the second track and is a very punky song, with Sylvia's voice sounding great over a high-tempo drum beat, with a lovely bridge. It's 'Meltdown' where Sylvia really comes into her own though. Starting off slowly, with Sylvia floating over a mellow verse before bursting into life in a faster chorus. This song also sees the best guitar solo of the album, just after the second chorus. This is the standout track of the album.
'In My Youth' has shades of the Manic Street Preachers at the start, although when you expect it to burst into a Terrorvision-type chorus, it goes off in the opposite direction. Again, very punkified vocals begin to make you wonder if Osmosis are capable of anything else. However then comes 'Teenage Angst', which takes the band off in a different direction, with some great lyrics; "You cannot see how I feel/You cannot feel how I feel/Don't tell me you know".
'Broken' hits the Power-pop trail with the familiar guitar sound, but experiments to great success with some brilliant harmonnies. It lacks a chorus, although somehow this doesn't seem so important. At this point you begin wishing for something to break the album up a bit.
'Strong Enough' arrives just in time to help. With a friendlier guitar sound, and less distortion this is a 'nice' track and nothing more. However, it's in the right place at the right time.
The closing song is 'Feel So Good'. With a strong bassline underlying the guitars bringing back memories of Lush, and distorted vocals for the bridge, this is Osmosis demonstating they are capable of a lot more than what's on this album.
Osmosis are a band of great potential, with 'Feel So Good' and 'Meltdown' being the highlights of the album. The band are very tight, obviously the product of a lot of hard work and deserve whatever success comes their way. However there are times on the album when you think the band could do a little more than what they are doing. Who knows, maybe that's still to come. Osmosis are still maturing, and sometimes you think Sylvia's voice is a little too polite for some of the lyrics (that is meant to be a positive comment - honest!).
'Luv Buzz' is the sound of a band obviously enjoying themselves, and because of that I think we'll see a lot more of them in the future. The future's bright, the future's Osmosis...
