Da da, da da da daaaa da, da da da daaaaa da, da da da da... I couldn't wait! I really couldn't wait to see it AGAIN! This film was a swift two fingers up the all the critics desperate to put the film down. No storyline? Too many special effect? PAH! (Vague review but hey, I don't wanna spoil it for you!)
A superb performance by Ewan McGregor was supported by generally good acting all around. There's always a few slips, but the it does beg the question - How DO you act like an alien? The answer seems to be put on a Japanese/Asian accent in most cases! Once you've overcome the annoying speech by Jar-Jar and co. you can sit back and really get into the film. Jar-Jar speaks English with little bits of French placed in there, combined with a slight Jamaican twinge in his voice.
The plot is thus (for those critics who couldn't figure it out) - Naboo is in dispute with the Federation, who unbeknown to Naboo are under the influence of a deal with the Sith. So the counsel send two representatives to negotiate the deal, who just happen to be Jedi Knights. The Sith plan to force the Queen of Naboo to sign an order that she really doens't want to sign, so she flies away with the Jedis as her escorts. Anyway, they fly to a planet where the Federation don't have any presence, where they have to find a part to get the ship flying again. They don't have any money and so win Pod race, blah blah blah, leave planet with Anakin Skywalker onboard, fight Darth Maul blah blah blah, all live happily every after, and the rest is history/the future(?).
The special effects are brilliant and all are essential, the light sabres get an early outing and the action is there from begining to end, all the traditional Star Wars music is there, as is the atmosphere and it all makes for a stunning feature.
I can't say a bad word about it, thus a faultless...
