Birdsfoot Trefoil (Lotus corniculatus)
Lies along the ground, downy or hairless. Leaves with five leaflets, lowest pair bent back so that leaves appear in threes. Flowers 2-7 in a head, yellow, often tinged orange or red, 10-16mm; May-September. Pods straight, in a head resembling a bird's foot, 15-30mm.

Found on short grass, its bright yellow flowers at or near ground level.
