Black Knapweed (Centaurea nigra agg.)
Short/medium, stems stiff, downy. Leaves long and pointed, the lower ones sparsely toothed. Flowerheads brush-like, pink-purple, solitary, 20-40mm; June-September.

Fairly common in middle meadow. Looks a bit thistle-like, but has no spines.
