2009 DATES ~ADVANCE BOOKING IS ONLY REQUIRED FOR THE SANTA SPECIALS~ January 1st New Years Day , plus every Sunday from Jan 4th until the 29th of November. Daily at half term February 15th to 22nd Saturdays April 4th to 31st October, Daily during all school holidays: Easter April 4th to April 19th May 23 to 31st July 18th to September 6th October 24 to November 1st Plus for the first time all Wednesdays in July. SPECIAL EVENTS. Easter Egg Specials (all children get free Easter gift) April 10 to 13th Lollipop Specials (all children get free lollipop) May 2 to 4th, May 23 to 25th, August 29 to 31st Lake Festival (Special event at Rudyard Lake) August 2nd Steam Gala (7 steam engines with 2 visiting engines and lots of trains) October 3 & 4th Halloween ( children travel free if dressed in costume) October 31, November 1st Firework Specials travel at night to the fireworks at Rudyard Lake 6pm to 8.30pm (Fare £1 -single) Santa Specials (must be booked in advance) December 12, 13, 20 in 2009 TRAIN TIMES: Rudyard Station Train Departures: Normal Service - (except fine Sundays & bank holidays when frequent trains will run from 11.00am to 4pm)
#Winter Trains ( November, January, February, trains run hourly from 11.00am to 3.00pm. Departing Rudyard Station on the hour. On fine days a 3.40 train may also run. Please telephone 01538 306704 on the day to check if its running *On busy days extra trains will run at peak times. See the notices on the railway stations for further information or ring the Station 01538 306704 A return trip is 3 miles and normally takes just over half an hour. You can break your journey at any station by arrangement with the guard. TRAIN FARES: From 1st Jan 2008 ( Fares will be held for 2009) Full 3 mile Return Trips Adults £3.50 Child (2 to 12) £2 Day Rover Tickets Adults £5.00 Child £2.50 - gives unlimited travel for the day. There are also fares for single journeys and other options, please ask the guard on the day. Booking is only required for Santa Trains where special fares and limited capacity apply. Children's Party package information and rates Click here We are unable to carry unaccompanied children at any time. Dogs on a lead are carried free at the owners risk. All trains include a wagon for free carriage of buggies, bikes, hampers etc for passengers. |

2009 Santa Specials will run on Sundays December 12, 13 & 20th. These must be booked in advance with gifts for children and bookings can now be taken. Special fares apply please see the Santa webpage for details and availability. Steam Galas are held annually with visiting steam engines Click here for more details of past events.
The train heads through the snow towards The Dam station on New Years Day 2002. This was the second consecutive year of operations in snow on New Years Day. Sadly since we have sometimes had some rain instead. We hope for better conditions in 2009. |
