A children's birthday party treat to remember on our steam trains at Rudyard Lake near Stoke in Staffordshire. The birthday boy or girl can have either a return journey* or unlimited travel aboard the Birthday Train Express with all their family and friends with our Day Rover ticket. The railway and lake makes a great place for a kids party venue and is convenient for Macclesfield, Congleton, Stoke and Buxton.
Whether its just taking a trip on the steam train or making a full day event we offer an unusual venue and great value. The railway runs for one and a half miles along the side of beautiful Rudyard Lake in Staffordshire and the trains are always steam hauled using covered carriages.

Our venue is ideal for kids with photo opportunities galore on the train and by the lake. Whether its feeding the ducks or themselves kids have a great time. We have successfully done children's parties for several years but with extra facilities available in 2009 it is better than ever and we hope you will give it a try. There are now catering options available at the railway at Rudyard with a kids party box or bring your own food if you wish. Please talk to us about the options available.

A special party train for adults
Of course we can also provide parties for older "children" (adults) of all ages. If you have any other special party requirements please contact us. Catering facilities can also be provided or you are welcome to bring your own. We do have a picnic train option on quieter days where we can take you up the lake in reserved coaches and provide a picnic by the lake using the shelter at Hunthouse Wood. We leave the reserved carriages as well and pick your party up when you are ready. This worked very well recently for a 60th Birthday Party. On a nice day there are few better experiences than a champagne picnic by the lakeside.
We do need parties to be booked in advance so we can put the arrangements in place and would like at least a weeks notice. If its sooner than that contact us and we will try to help. A party can be organised on any day when trains run or even on other days by special arrangement. Look at the events page for full details but trains run most weekends and daily in school holidays. There is no minimum number but a realistic maximum of about 80 and we welcome parties of any size in between.
LOCATION
The steam railway at Rudyard is located between Leek in Staffordshire and Macclesfield in Cheshire one mile along the B5331 from its junction with the A523. We are close to the Cheshire, Staffordshire, Derbyshire borders and easy to get to from Macclesfield, Congleton, Knutsford, Buxton as well as Leek and Stoke. Follow the map link for full directions.

1-19 guests: Return Journey £3.50 per Adult, £2 per child or Day Rover £5 per adult, £2.50 per child
20+ guests: Deduct 10% from above fares.

The Birthday Party Express has to be booked in advance. A return journey will take about 35 minutes if you do not stop off at any of the stations. * You are welcome to break your journey if you wish for say a picnic and then catch a later train back at no extra cost. Car Parking at Rudyard Station is free.
The prices quoted are for days when the trains are scheduled. Non steaming days may incur a steaming fee and this should be discussed before booking.
A non refundable booking fee of £15 is required for each booking.
Covered accommodation for picnics, colouring etc will be available later in 2009. Our covered picnic area is now available at Rudyard Station without any extra charge for booked parties.
