The Harborough Training Band November 2000

The Annual Presentation of Awards took place at the AGM
on Tuesday 13th May 2003. The winners were:
Most improved player: Emily Beasley and Hugo Everard
Training Band person of the year: Adam Jones

The Training Band are currently looking for local children who would like to play a larger instrument - possibly Euphonium or Bass.
Please contact secretary@harborough-band.org.uk for more details

For quite a few years, Harborough Band has been coaching younger players in the art of playing brass instruments. Over the years, several players have progressed from the Training Band to become fully fledged members of the Senior Band. It was traditionally run by the assistant conductor, with help from other members of the band. Due to a lack of resources and time demands, it was decided that the training band should be revised.

We have been lucky enough to secure the services of a good friend of the band, Mr Keith Britcliffe, who also plays cornet for the Black Dyke Band. Keith has been drafted in to coach the beginners, and has taken the Training Band to new strengths. They continue to perform at some events with the senior band, and have now started performing in their own right.

The training band meets every Tuesday night to rehearse at Little Bowden Church Hall (MAP) from 7pm onwards. Anyone interested in finding out more should contact the secretary.
