Heartwood Creations was founded in 1998 to manage local woodlands for the benefit of wildlife and to help revive the economic value of small woodlands in Cornwall. In return, this provides the materials for a range of beautifully hand-crafted products.

Greenwood furniture

My furniture is made using green (unseasoned) wood and is crafted to the highest quality. Its uniqueness comes from the use of natural shapes and the traditional techniques employed in working the wood. The materials I use are from local and sustainable sources. Countryside management

I also offer countryside management services including hedgelaying and coppicing. Sustainable woodland management helps to ensure the future of our woodlands, the wildlife and the livelihoods they support.

Courses and demonstrations

I regularly run courses and demonstrations in all aspects of my work from hedgelaying to furniture making and rush seating from my woodland workshop on the edge of Bodmin Moor. Click here for details of forthcoming courses and events.

Living Willow Structures

I, together with my wife Ele, create living willow structures for schools, private gardens or any outdoor project. These creations grow every year and can provide areas for play, shade relaxation or simply be a beautiful living feature, with some willow rods for craft activities as an added bonus! Heartwood Creations is part of Pentiddy Woods and is a founder member of the Westcountry Woodsmen. Heartwood Creations was established with support from The Silvanus Trust and The Prince’s Trust.
