Our Name
Hebron Pentecostal Church and Christian Centre.

Hebron
Actually means community, fellowship, or even place of refuge. We believe that the family of God ought to show the way in every aspect of society, from the love of God shown practically in meeting one another's needs to enjoying the relationships that spring out of such a community.

Pentecostal
The fellowship is known as a pentecostal church. This is taken from our belief in the present day reality of the baptism in the Holy Spirit, referred to in Acts 2 verses 1-4. Because this took place on the Feast of Pentecost, the name has stuck.

Church
What does the word church paint in your mind? Perhaps an archaic building with dirge like songs promoting a boring religious system, totally irrelevant to your life? Church can be different. The Church we see in the New Testament is vital, exciting, compelling, and totally relevant to every aspect of life. What makes a difference? Hebron Pentecostal Church is a growing group of local families from all walks of life, from doctors to shop assistants, factory workers to directors, babies in prams to senior citizens: all working praying and worshipping together in a community based upon a New Testament pattern of church life.

Assemblies Of God
For the purpose of fellowship, we are associated with Assemblies of God in Great Britain and Ireland, which is the fastest growing denomination in the world.

The British Assemblies was formed in 1924 as a fellowship of locally governed churches and during 77 years of evangelism and church planting has grown to over 600 churches. It has, however, a world-wide impact far beyond its modest size.

Assemblies of God is part of the Evangelical Alliance. All the doctrines of the Christian faith which are regarded as orthodox, we accept. For example, we hold to the Apostles Creed. We are Trinitarian. The ground of membership is that a person has a public and credible profession of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ as Saviour. We accept the doctrine of Believer's Baptism, and a service of infant dedication as distinct from infant baptism.

We are developing a full programme of meetings geared to the needs of the membership as well as the needs of the neighbourhood.
