R FORGAN & SON, St Andrews
Smooth face cleek
Stamped R Forgan & Son St Andrews with Prince of Wales' plume.
Shaft stamped R Forgan & Son St Andrews with replacement sheepskin grip. A beautiful
club from one of the foremost and prolific clubmakers of his time. Late 19th century.
Forgan was clubmaker to the Prince of Wales (Prince Edward) - hence the Prince's plume
cleekmark. When the Prince became King Edward in 1901 Forgan then adopted the "Crown"
as his cleekmark.
Smooth face spade mashie
Stamped R Monro, Richmond, Surrey with stags head cleekmark (rather faint but
identifiable).Leather grip. Very nice early golf club, probably very early 1900's.
Smooth face mashie niblick
With "Umblest" stamp. Nice early iron (probably 1900 - 1910) with wool listing but sheepskin
grip missing.
ANDERSON (ALEX), Anstruther, Fife
Smooth face cleek.
Anderson was known as a producer of quality golf clubs.
This club is stamped with the "double circle" cleekmark with the words "Anderson Anstruther".
The club also bears the retailers stamp "Goudie & Co, Edinburgh".
Probably dates from around the turn of the century. Nice collectible club.
Has the description "Con Iron" stamped on the toe. Shaft clearly stamped "J & A Simpson,
Makers, Edinburgh".
Smooth face cleek.
Stamped "Goudie & Co, Edinburgh" with no other visible cleekmarks. Again, a nice
club probably early 1900's.
Deep face mashie
with dot and hyphen combination face markings. Very faint cleekmarks on head - but
looks very much like it could be a J & W CRAIGIE, Montrose, Forfarshire (faint hint
of a "rifle" cleekmark with block lettered Montrose within a oval. Good leather grip.
Probably Circa 1915.
JAMES GOURLEY, Carnoustie
Mid mashie with dash face markings. Stamped with "Anchor" cleekmark and J R Fulford,
Bidwell. Nice leather grip. Circa 1910.
WILLIAM WINTON & Co, Montrose
"Strong" iron with regular hand dot punch face. "Diamond" cleekmark with the stamp of
G Williams, Newport. Circa 1915 -1920.
ANDERSON, Anstruther
Scored line face markings with "Arrow" cleekmark. This club is stamped "J S Caird,
Newcastle on Tyne". Shaft also stamped J S Caird. Probably Circa 1920.
Ladies Mid Iron, stamped "Grenville's Ltd, Birmingham" with scored line face markings.
GEORGE NICOLL, Leven
"4" Iron, with "Hand" cleekmark. Stamped "Michael Daragon, South Lodge G.C., Mitcham
Common. Dot punched face markings. Circa 1920's.
ANDERSON, Anstruther
Circular dot punch face markings with "Arrow" cleekmark. This club is stamped "Finnigans,
Manchester" in the Anderson style concentric circles. Shaft also stamped "Finnigans,
Manchester". Probably Circa 1920's.
JAMES HALLEY & CO, London
Mashie with "Circle H" cleekmark with the letters "L L.M.B" in a triangle. "Maxwell"
hosel iron with flanged back. Circa 1915. Dot punch regular face markings. Very nice club.
MARTIN and KIRKALDY, Edinburgh
Driving Mashie, "Andrew Kirkaldy" autographed model stamped "Elite". Scored line face
markings. Very nice club with good leather grip. Probably Circa 1915 to 1920.
CHARLES BRAND, Carnoustie
Ladies Mashie Niblick with scored line face markings. "Rampant Lion" cleekmark.
This club also bears the marking of Robert Brodie & Son, Anstruther "B & S A" in
inverted triangle. Brodies would have been the retailers of this club.
WILLIAM GIBSON, Kinghorn, Fife
Large headed niblick with large dot punch face markings. Cleekmarkings are very faint
but the Gibson "Outline Star" mark is clearly identifiable. Possibly Circa 1915. Good
leather grip.
JAMES HALLEY & CO, London
Large headed niblick with hyphen and side design face markings. Left handed club.
"Circle H" cleekmark. Circa 1915.
Flanged back mashie with dash face markings with indistinctive markings. Possible
"Wallasey" stamping. Club lacks grip.
JAMES SPENCE, St Andrews
Ladies mashie niblick. Stamped with the "Flag-In-Hole cleekmark and marked "A H
Billett, West Dorset, Bridport". Dot punch face markings. Club has been shortened and
shaft does not fit clubhead well.
HENDRY and BISHOP, Edinburgh and Leith
Spade mashie. 1920's "Mitre Brand" club with "Bishop's Mitre" cleekmark.
"CARDINAL" series iron with dot punch face marking. Stamped "R Greenway,
Coventry".
2 iron, autograph stamped "R Greenway". Arrow cleekmark through circle. Club also
stamped "carrying power 150/70 yds". Probably 1920's. Lacking grip.

Rustless deep faced mashie with dot punched face. Circa 1920's.
SPALDING BROS
Matching set of three dot punched rustless irons, each with the "Anvil" cleekmark
and each stamped "Jack Crombie, Malden G.C." :
"Iron"	Stamped "Average distance 170 / 180 yards" with "W2" on sole
"Mashie"	Stamped "Average distance 130 / 150 yards" with "W5" on sole
"Mashie Niblick"	Stamped "Average distance 60 / 80 yards" with "W6" on sole
Probably late 1920's or perhaps early 1930's.
