Camberley lies on the border of north western Surrey, where it
meets Berkshire and Hampshire. The River Blackwater flows between
them. The town has grown outwards from the Yorktown gates of the
Staff College and now engulfs the slightly older York Town. Both
were linked to the Military Academy, Sandhurst, which lies close
to St Michael's church. The busy A30 London Road, with its horrendous
traffic system, divides the church and the main part of town.
Many of the shops along it are closed and shuttered. But the quieter
High Street seems to be thriving and there is a modern shopping
mall, Main Square.
Adjoining Frimley is actually the older of the the two towns, but smaller. The Basingstoke Canal flows through the town, and the area is well endowered with lakes and parkland.
Nearby villages include: Frimley, Chobham, West End and Pirbright.
Nearby beauty spots and places of interest include: the Basingstoke Canal & Visitors Centre, Frimley Lodge Park, Lakeside Country Park, Lightwater Country Park, Virginia Water, Staff College Military Museum and Surrey Heath Museum.
